Make and Raffle a Quilt
Outline: get a nifty needle
person to organise this one. She designs a lovely quilt comprised of
25 quilted squares each 18" square, with a 3" plain border
all around. She buys very nice material and makes up 25 packs. (Or
reduce to 5 x 3 = 15 for a single quilt)
Each pack contains the full
instructions, templates and materials for one square and 25 £2
tickets which will go into a raffle for the finished quilt. These
packs are then given out to 25 capable sewers each being asked to
make up their square and sell the 25 tickets. An opportunity to
involve members of the congregation
The nifty needlewoman (person) gathers
back the 25 completed squares and makes up the quilt with filling,
border and backing. The draw takes place on some suitable occasion
and the lucky winner gets a beautiful double quilt for £2.
Income & Expenditure: income
should be a guaranteed 25 x 25 x 2 = £1250 and expenses are
whatever you choose but do not stint on quality. So you would be very
unlucky not to clear £1000.
With thanks to Pam Copson for this
idea.
